Robotic Surgery – A Promising Technology in Its ‘Wild West’ Days
Robotic surgery has grown dramatically during the last decade. It offers both surgeons and patients many advantages. But the technology is new and often oversold. The rise of adverse events during these surgeries points up the need for better training of surgeons and their teams. The promise of robotic surgery to improve patient outcomes appears to be real, but patients considering robotic surgery should understand that these are “early days” in the evolution of this technology.
